The entitlement on behalf of her coworkers is astounding. They really don't deserve anything else from our protagonist ever again.

She wasn't asking for much; it's not like she was expecting a homemade cake of her own. But they really couldn't even offer the bare minimum.

30-year-old chef treats coworkers to homemade cakes for their birthdays for a year, refuses to make anymore when they become entitled to free treats despite forgetting her birthday: "It rubbed me the wrong way"
We've all heard of the Love Languages. Usually, people bring them up when talking about the way in which they prefer to be shown love. However, a person's Love Language can also reference how they tend to express love. Often one's preferred way to receive and express affection are one in the same. For example, if your Love Language is Words of Affirmation, you may find yourself verbally singing words of praise to your loved ones and writing them encouraging notes to demonstrate your love for them.
In our story today, a baker is very clearly someone that values Gifts as their Love Language. She makes free cakes for everyone at work for their birthdays. However, when her special day comes around, she receives nothing. Really, nothing. Not just no gifts, but no acknowledgement at all. She promises herself that she won't make any more free cakes and quickly realizes how entitled everyone has become to her graciousness.
